Bodyface, featuring three veterans of the NYC rock scene, Jared Kerr, Matthew Pop, & Roger El Asmar, is hosting their first album release party and performing on September 4th at The Studio at Webster Hall in New York City.
Compared to such acts as Radiohead, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots and Failure, Bodyface embraces the quintessential elements of 90’s abrasive alternative grunge while imposing innovative aggressive experimentalism. Bodyface is grounded in post industrial grunge rock and merged with the sonic rush of crushing volume and melodic moodiness paired with self-assured songwriting. Jared Kerr’s angst ridden lyrics tell compelling stories of human alienation and introspection. The best way to describe the music is that Bodyface never sleeps, and never wakes: beautiful melodies never sounded so scared.
Jared Kerr, the lead singer and guitarist, started off his music career in 1996, as a drummer playing with Matthew Pop. He soon switched to singing and guitar after a while and it stuck. Jared’s has an unorthodox approach to the guitar. By primarily only using two strings at a time, it gives the song a multi layered, biting sound that is unique.
Roger Asmar came to NYC from Venezuela bound and determined to play the drums for an American rock band. His persistence and dedication to music led him to play in such bands as Derail, Defect, and The New Professionals. In 2008, he rehearsed with Bodyface and knew it that they shared the love for fiery, melodic, alternative rock that he found inspiration from.
In late 2010, Jared Kerr recruited songwriter/guitarist/musical mastermind Mathew Pop to become a part of Bodyface. After much soul-searching (and drinking), Matthew decided to re-unite with his longtime collaborator, Jared Kerr and bring his talents to Bodyface.
In September of 2010, with the assistance of co-producer/recording legend Tommy Uzzo, Bodyface released their first full-length album, Bias.
