Christian Larsen began composing music at the age of six. He was classically trained in piano and percussion. Before relocating to Chicago from Omaha, he played drums in several bands, most notably FeverTrees, headlining many shows and opening for the likes of Stone Temple Pilots, Fugazi, and 3-11.
Christian excelled at math and aimed to combine mathematics and music as a sound engineer. In 1997, he graduated from DePaul University, with degrees in Sound Recording Technology, Piano and Percussion Performance. Christian stayed active in the local music scene while continuing to write and record. He played in multiple rock bands, jazz combos, orchestra, and percussion ensembles. One of his bands, Azure Bloom, was signed to an independent label and recorded a modestly successful album with radio play and midwest touring.
Returning to DePaul in 2000, Christian earned his Masters Degree in Applied Mathematics. He continued to perform, recording an album with TreeLine and playing shows locally. Christian worked as an actuarial consultant for seven years, but finally could not ignore his musical calling anymore. In the Fall of 2008, he left the corporate world to return to his music full time.
Since then, Christian has written two solo albums, the second of which will be released in the Spring of 2010. He can be contacted at christian.a.larsen@gmail.com and visited at www.christianlarsenmusic.com.
