Drunken Banshees was formed at the tail end of 2007 in Lusaka, Zambia by three American 20-somethings living and working in the country. Alexander Reimer, Michael Kriss, and Kevin Moody began writing songs with a Celtic Punk feel but slowly found the niche in the world music scene playing melodic hardcore/punk with influences coming from such bands as Pennywise, Lifetime, Bad Religion, Fenix TX, and Strike Anywhere.
Kriss and Reimer have had their share of experience on the U.S. music scene as well. Guitarist Reimer appeared with his last band, A Common Hope, on the Vans Warped Tour as well as appearing in reputable punk magazine Punk Rock Confidential. He, with A Common Hope, shared the stage with such large acts as The Bouncing Souls, The Draft, and The Street Dogs as well as performing at the East Coast Oi! Fest 2007. Lead vocalist Kriss, hailing, from New Orleans, LA performed at Spring Fest (a reputable festival in the southern U.S. gulf coast area) when he was still a teen. Late in 2008 came the addition of their Drummer, Matt Cockrell, bringing experience from many years of grinding it out in different scenes. In mid 2009 came the addition of Aaron Snyder on bass, bringing the West Coast over to the East and adding tons of flavor to the group.
Drunken Banshees is showing the world how punk should be played. Loud, Fast, and most of all, with attitude.
