Arise From Oblivion is essentially a recording project that was founded by rock instrumental guitarist Nigel Brewer in the summer of 2005. Brewer wanted to expand his songwriting to include traditional vocal fronted heavy rock music and wanted to start by recording a CD of his most recently composed songs. Nigel Brewer was first known to fans of hard music in the Washington D.C. area as a columnist in the Northern Virginia Rhythm magazine where he reviewed local hard music CD's and live shows. Nigel also contributed articles for the Connection Newspapers in Northern Virgina. After reviewing shows for several years, Brewer was itching to form his own band, record a CD and get back on stage! in 1993, he was re-acquainted with drummer Andre Love, whom played in Reston VA based bands Split Decision and Remission. They both attended South Lakes High School in Reston, VA and as fate would have it, both ended up working togeather several years later. (both in the musical sense and the vocational sense) The two started practicing togeather and Love began writing songs and they were soon Joined by Ben Blanton (rhythm guitar) and Andrew Burnett (bass) to form Nemesis . in october of 1993, Excessive Force was recorded in a local studio, to be followed by Realistic Maneuvers the following year. A song titled "Some Friend" from Excessive Force was chosen as one of the 8 finalists in WIYY 98 Rocks Noise In the Basement contest, which allowed Nemesis to perform at Merriweather Post pavillion as part of a local Music showcase headlined by National acts Rob Rule and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on june 18th 1994, the day after O.J. Simpsons famous police chase in the white Ford Bronco! Nemesis continued perfming gigs until they disbanded in the summer of 1996. Brewer immediately began writing music for an instumental album which would be titled Journey Through A Dream. It was'nt for several years after that CD was released that he began performing at the open mic Night at Jimmy's Old Town Tavern in Herndon, Virginia. This is where he discoverd the vocal talents of former actress Kim Holland. Wanting to do more than instrumental songs, Brewer started writing new songs, with lyrics, as well as lyrics for a few of his instrumental tunes and thus the nucleus of Arise from Oblivion was created when Andre Love agreed to play drums, and Holland agreed to supply the vocals for their debut recording project, Does time Have an End?.
