SeeJoeRock Tips!

Tips For...

  1. Musicians
  2. PRO's
  3. Fans

  1. Tips For Musicians:

Below are some great tips to help maximize your experience on SeeJoeRock.
    Lets get started!

    Biography and Other Profile Information:

We highly suggest filling all of your information out to the fullest extent and to be serious when you do. The reason for this is because you never know who is going to be looking at your profile.

Think of it as your musical resume. You wont apply for a job and when the company asks for location write in “Fart City”. Unless you are actually from a town called Fart City and such a place actually existed. An employer would throw your resume in a trashcan and eventually only be looked over by seagulls at the dump. Pros musicians and fans will only take you as serious as you are going to present yourself, so always put your best foot forward.

    Photos Videos and Music:

In your profile you will have the chance to upload a total of 6 photos, videos, and songs. We suggest only displaying the best of the best for each category. Also when uploading photos and video’s try to use a variety of live and studio images and video. This helps fans and PROs get a chance to see the personality and flavor you have to offer on and off the stage.

Think of your profile as a Presskit. Also, think of the following questions that you would ask if sending your Presskit to a venue or label for consideration:

    1) What would make me stand out?
    2) Do they want to see pictures of my brother from Christmas? (NO-unless your brother is someone like Neal Pert. Then that would be sweet)
    3) If I was a pro, what would I really care about seeing and hearing?

    Utilizing Events:

When you post upcoming events you’ll notice that they show up in a couple spots. The main events calendar page and on your profile. The little green circle with the plus sign means that fans pros and musicians can add your show to their I’m Attending calendar.

We highly recommend adding other bands and musicians shows to your calendar and actually going out to promote your band/music.

The Internet is great, but nothing beats face to face networking in a local music scene. People that attend shows will be your biggest ally in being noticed.

    Looking to play shows?:

It’s always nice to be able to find shows to play without having to guess what bill’s have available slots. We set it up so when someone adds an event, they have an option of “Bands needed”. This will display as yes or no on the events info page.

Do not miss the opportunity to be seen! Take full advantage of this by checking events frequently and contacting the people posting!

    Featured Artists:

If you noticed on the homepage there is a box for Featured Artists. This is a great spot to be because everyone that visits SeeJoeRock will see this Module!

In order to be a Featured artist all you need to do is get people to view your videos and click the Feature this video link. At the end of each week the artist with the most Featured video hits will be posted as the Featured Artist of the Week!

*One Tip to help you get to this spot is to tell your friends when you invite them to check out your videos and point them to the “feature this video“ link. Also always let your fans know when a new video is posted!

  2. Tips for PRO's

Below are some great tips to help maximize your experience on SeeJoeRock. Lets get started!

    Privacy:

We know it can get annoying having musicians and bands, and even some other PRO’s contacting you when you may not want them too. We’ve helped you out a little in this respect.

In your edit profile options, we have set it up so you have the option of letting musicians message, add, and comment on your profile. We also set it up so that Fans cannot contact you at all, eliminating a lot of unwanted clutter.

Utilize your Tips! Time is money!:

As a PRO you may not have a lot of time to respond to a bunch of bands or other’s asking a lot of the same questions. We provided the Tips section to help you weed out a lot of unwanted messages.

Take advantage of this area to let people know TIME IS MONEY! Tell them up front what it takes to be a part of your label/venue/book studio time etc.

This is a great place to post your expectations of others.

We encourage you to also post tips and advice to musicians that are trying to make it in the industry. This not only helps artists, but also lets them know how serious you are as a PRO. You only want the best! Let them know that.

    Posting Events:

Weather you are a venue or a manager, as a PRO you can post HOSTED events. This means you have the ability to post events on behalf of the artist you are representing, or that is playing at your club.

A great thing to focus on here is the I’m Attending count. Every time someone adds your show to their calendar, it will update your hosted date’s tally of people attending! A good tip here is to encourage your band/artist to invite/tell as many people as possible to promote the show and SeeJoeRock.

    Find the best really fast:

We have set it up so that you can find the site’s most popular video’s as fast as possible right from the homepage. This way you wont have to sift through a bunch of videos to find the best (unless you have the time).

We also have the Featured Artist module, which is the artist who receives the most “Feature this video” requests in a week.

We encourage you to add videos and songs that you like to your favorites so that you can “bookmark” the artists you like in case you need to contact them later.

    Become a Featured PRO:

If you are interested in being a featured PRO you can email us at: advertise@seejoerock.com.

Please include your user URL in the email.

In order for us to consider you a featured PRO, we would like you to be willing to participate in an interview. Topics will ultimately help promote you, but are also intended to be a resource for artists to better themselves. These interviews will be posted in the News section of SeeJoeRock.

  3. Tips for Fans

Below are some great tips to help maximize your experience on SeeJoeRock. Lets get started!

    It’s about the music:

Think of the site as a music playground. Videos are your slides, and songs are your monkey bars. Go to town and play to your hearts content!

We designed this site for true music junkies so make sure you save all your favorite videos and songs and more importantly share them with your friends!

If you have a favorite band/artist nothing means more to them then spreading the word! Sometimes band’s biggest fans end up becoming integral parts of the band itself. You never know what your footwork could bring you so promote promote promote!

    I’m attending your show dude!:

You really like that artist? Make sure you add their shows to your calendar so you have a list of concerts to attend. There will almost certainly be tons of shows to choose from, so you have no excuse to say you are bored anymore.

    Feature your favorites:

Did you find a new band or Artist that you are absolutely captured by? Make sure you request their video be featured! The artist with the most featured requests at the end of each week will be the featured artist of the week!

Don’t let your footwork go unnoticed! Artists and bands love to hear when you are helping them so always feel free to leave love and praise.
